Margot is the character I most regret remembering nothing about. Ethan, however, fits into this not knowing feel better, so I’m excited to be in a situation where I finally learn what he knows.

I really wish I had read this when the first book was fresher in my mind. I’m intrigued by characters like Margot, Martine, and Li Zhou, I just don’t remember what I am supposed to refer about them. Despite this, I think I’m enjoying this book more. Which is related to why it’s taken such a long time to get around to it.

It’s been years since I read the first book in this series, so I don’t remember the details of Suyana’s kidnapping and escape. I kind of wish for a recap, but I’m liking the prose and pacing thus far.

what a proposal

just like its predecessor, this book may be short but it's taking all my energy to read it; the prose is so sharp it requires undivided attention which makes the reading process great but also exhausting

"He'd have felt better if she was breathing heavy. If she'd cracked and told him what was wrong. He'd like her more if she felt like a person at all, and not some memory he sat beside for old times' sake, in a cloud of someone else's perfume."
