Status Updates From Finders Keepers

Honestly I could have left it on the shelf. The dialogue is so unnatural. I teach college writing and one of the first things I teach is not to make things sound unnatural. We don’t use people’s names often when we speak to each other. EVERY NEW LINE these characters use each others names.

“I am telling you right now,Thea…” Barnes scolded.

“Oh Barnes, you need to relax.”

“Now, Thea, I mean it.”

When I was a kid my mom had a massive bookshelf full of romance books. You know the ones-bodice ripping covers full of Fabio lookalikes. But! There were also a few cozy winter romances from Fern Michaels and Debbie Macomber. One of the Fern Michaels became a favorite of mine and I still have it on my shelf to this day. I came across this book at a thrift store and grabbed it because of that nostalgic feeling.
