Status Updates From Under Heaven

i had some concerns about the female characters of the story fading into passivity and lazy, stereotypical roles given that that could easily be justified by the setting and premise of the book. but I’m thoroughly surprised and amused by how much power and agency the women have had so far. It almost feels like they’re the backbone and are responsible for the story pushing forward. they have these men dancingggg

every single man just horny as hell, like damn, can u be normal ?

this is the shen siblings’ world and everyone’s just living in it

story so far feels like it’s gearing up to become avengers: infinity war. love!

i actually appreciate and like the jumping around (perspectives, time periods, etc)

love a lot of the themes being touched on so far too (balance, ambition, family, death, the supernatural)

I'm doing a really piss poor job of getting through my physical TBR right now.

Of the last 20 books I've read, 3 were a physical TBR books prior to me picking it up.

Now, some are ebooks or audiobooks I own, but those don't take up space in my tiny home. Clearly, I'm going to have to refocus my reading efforts.
