Hopefully my reading this revised edition doesn't erase my reading the earlier edition back in April. I wanted to read both editions separately for a reason.

I have this edition and the 1997 revised edition; I'm planning to read them both and compare! I think the later edition just adds poems and doesn't take any out, but I haven't had a chance to really sit and compare both Tables Of Contents yet, beyond seeing that they have the same sections and section names.

Is it just me or are most Black American published poets from the East Coast? Specifically, from the South or discussing the southern experience. mm. The poems I read in school always felt familiar in their description of the land, community, music, and culture. I never hear Black poets talk about deserts and plains out West. I’m curious for a Black perspective of that landscape. Where my n*z herding cattle?
