Very vivid descriptions with fairly esoteric vocabulary, slows down the flow of reading

So many unnecessary ten-dollar words, so many simple words confused with their homophones, such bizarre comma use... And I still have no idea where this is going, and what big chunks of the story have to do with the overall narrative.

I hate the main character, I'm having issues with my copy being uncorrected, and I don't see where the story is going at all.

"Drugs are bad but a little knowledge is worse. Now, I'm certain I know why this entire city is going crazy."
