reading for my dissertation research… quite focused on Catholic theology and history but something I’m thinking with regarding research in an online queer yeshiva. what does “presence” mean when talking about religious ritual performed digitally, over Zoom sometimes, or learning Mishnah through a voice channel—and how (+why) do such forms of presence get minimized as less present because they’re digital..
