Two interesting things. Firstly, Napoloen's return to Paris in the 100 days was not the triumphant occasion I had imagined it to be, and the population was largely unhappy as at the time Napoleon= the continuation of more war and death. Secondly, the good will the king built up following Napploens second defeat was quickly dissapated thanks to the Prussians, who occupied Paris in a harsh manner and were widely hated.

Great so far. The image of Frenchmen in 1814 literally pulling King Louis xviii's carriage from Calais themselves and shouting long live the king from the top of the Parisian rooftops is not one I knew about. The brief return of the bourbons is so interesting.
