Enjoying some of these stories, others seem incomplete or just not for me

A chronic alcoholic agrees to give it a shot. He was temporary lost in space, visited an alien planet, and was gifted with complete knowledge of our planet earth. An enlightened man returned to earth. But there was a catch...
