Sojourner Truth had 13 children while she was a slave. She spoke out boldly against it for years, and was forced to flee the country for a time. Harriet Tubman's husband remarried after she escaped. She served as a spy in the Civil War. When the war ended, she turned her home into a home of refuge for former slaves. She died in 1913!
