The writing quality took a huge dive as potholes appear like a maggot in rotten meat, things that weren't established before suddenly appear as if they were there the entire time, and things that were there are not spoken about as if they were never there, my personal theory is that the author went back and re-did the first chapters but didn't have time for the rest of the beginning.
