Very interesting! I was / am especially interested in the old "method" for language acquisition. I see it repeated in "Classical Education" and in the way people like CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien learned many of the languages they learned on their own (and in their youth). In "The Collected Letters of CS Lewis" (vol 1), Lewis discusses this method (in hints) on and off. :-)
