Descartes has, in the first meditation, brought everything to a decisive doubtfulness. Everything is to be doubt from the fundamentals if anything true and indubitable is to be established. He has two objectives to accomplish: theontology, the study of God's existence, and soul-body problem (mind-body). The fundamental epistemical acquisition is the sense. He doubts it, he establishes his method.

Descartes suffers from writing things too straightforwardly where it makes the modern reader scoff rather than think even though they really should think

Surprisingly fun to read so far. Descartes has also aged better than most would have you suspect, he made mistakes but they are intelligent mistakes.
