Status Updates From Madame Bovary

Today I described this book as "a surprisingly bleak French novel suffused with ennui" and I think that sums it up so far. I don't like anyone in it. That's not always a deal-breaker for me, but I'm also bored by everyone and also do not care at all what happens to them.

I don't love either of the two free versions of this on Audible, so maybe I'll see if it's better in print.

Very much so in the trenches with all of Flaubert’s superfluous setting DESCRIPTIONS!! I’m not usually one to complain but my god this is dense. I will power through #noliteracycrisisinmyhome
