This all just makes me so sad. Nicholas abdicated and he just wanted to go live his life with his family on a farm somewhere. He abdicated for both himself and Alexey, they were not a danger or a threat. The family should’ve been allowed to live and it’s absolutely devastating and heartbreaking that they weren’t.

All of this makes me so sad for the girls. Either the family was too out of touch with the people, cooped up in their palaces away from the public, or they were behaving in an undignified way by becoming nurses during the war and helping care for wounded soldiers. There was literally no winning, they were wrong for whatever they did in the eyes of the public.
