Status Updates From The Recognitions

More arcane religious prattle. More characters dying in outlandishly freakish ways. More people acting and talking like no human beings ever. More scenic over description to no end but obscurity. More NPCs shot like fish in a barrel. One neat callback to a saint alluded to earlier; a nice touch, admittedly. If this was magical realism, I could half respect it. But it ain't. These notes are for me. Don't mind them.

I've just gotten through the main section of the telephone book (you kids won't know about those) -- or so it feels like -- and am now in the back business section. Let your fingers do the walking ...

Brown falls down the stairs and dies. Good. One boring character with a juvenile name out of the way. Do 70 more like this and we'll have something.

Almost all the book's characters at a party in NYC. Dubiously comical bits. Counterfeit money being passed around like L'argent. Debauchery, etc. Should be good with all this, but ain't. Nearly 100 pages of sheer agony. OK OK, leave it for the review. Onward. Lord, give me strength.

Another New York party with all our characters prattling incessantly and pretentiously. Wyatt meets Esther and again blubbers like a total cipher. The book repeats itself incessantly. At least I'm at page 600.
