I might dnf solely out of the way that it’s truly not a give and take situation, but an ineffective lifestyle they lead together?

currently in a confused state because you’re in love with him, but you also don’t describe him the way most people in love do, nor think of others in a monogamous way

nothing to do with the book (but it is at a quite satisfactory area) but i find it funny how quickly i can read this book versus how slowly i read ‘The Silent Patient’

I’m fighting so many internal battles not to ‘dnf’ this book because of them not having strict roles 😭

fuck, I don’t like reading verse 😭 but I’ll try because the story is unique and I don’t think I’ll find something like this without the versing / versatile position 🥲

I just started reading this, planning on reading in between Silent Patient so I can have a break from thriller whenever I need, but actually this is REALLY GOOD?? The author is extremely good at differentiating who is who in the povs. If she didn’t put whose chapter was whose pov and never disclosed any particular information on who the character was around or their home, it would still be so obvious who was who!

“Have you actually seen one, my little eromenos? A cunt?” I’m so cross with him I say without thinking “Yeah, I’ve seen my mum’s.”

And suddenly I hate this book and the author and will not be continuing but I am in fact going to mark this as a finished book because I had to read previous awkward moments but you know this one takes the cake and that’s about all I have to say about that

God damn it I hate my life I knew some form of this scene would be brought up and it’s worse than I imagined

See this is where the like world difference comes in and I have to search up what Oxford looks like

This whole scene is going to be awkward for so many different reasons
1) the age difference especially in front of his friends
2) the financial difference between a doctor and a cook at a diner
3) the difference in conversation especially with older lawyers and doctors
4) and lack of knowledge with toby showing up in old spice

That part

I love this whole scene where Laurie is like looking up at toby it’s like just so domestic

“That’s not love.”
“Well, what is?”
“What I had with Robert.”

The amount of times Laurie has said this and I still don’t quite know the tone I’m sure it changes everytime

I feel this set up would be something only someone would understand if they themselves have been in the situation because I sort of have a grasp of what this looks like thanks to my Google search but I’m still quite a bit confused

Oh wow so this is going to be toby’s first time like taking the lead how exciting but I am worried because like he is infact a 19 year old and Laurie is 37 so the age and physical difference worries me just a bit
