Status Updates From Bad Country

I'm making slow progress on this book but I'm still reading it in bits. And the bizarre thing is when I pick it up I actually still remember what was going on in it even though I haven't touched it for what seems like a long time. I wonder if he will ever solve the case, now that the old lady has hired him?

This book is kinda strange as the punctuation is missing...and I don't understand why. There are no quotation marks around the spoken dialogue, which makes reading the book a bit more difficult. I also don't understand why it's missing?? It's from a publishing company so...??

But the story, set in Arizona, starts out right away with a body lying out in the "middle of nowhere" except the main character lives there.
