So.... It seems the idea that Copts had nationalist tendencies and wanted to be rid of the Byzantines for theological reasons is untrue. The idea they welcomed the Arab/Muslim invasion is also untrue and most likely Arab nationalist/Muslim propoganda

Fascinating. Early conversion to Islam as a largely pragmatic decision to avoid taxation and ensure social mobility taken on the part of Copts who may not have understood the doctrinal differences is counter to both Coptic and Islamic narratives.
