“But that was the one thing I knew she had a never-ending supply of. Her strength was admirable and I was confident she’d find it again. I just had to make sure it lacked one thing when we eventually returned home – her desire to kill me.”

“I hope it was worth it,” he said, straightening his jacket. “Because, as of yesterday, you’re no longer a missing statistic. You’re officially dead to the world.”

“I don’t know what the fuck was going through your head when you thought you might actually get away from me. You had to have known I would find you.”

“You and I both know this was never about escaping,” I replied.

“Do you have any idea of the amount of bullshit I have been dealing with because of you?” he roared at me.

“Well, considering the amount of bullshit you’ve already put countless other women and me through, you cannot imagine the immensity of the fuck I do not give,” I replied harshly.

“….trying to keep myself relaxed for when the time finally came for Darren to come get me. This time it wouldn’t be just a little battle between us; it would be a full-on war.”

“Ya know, you’re in a lot of trouble, little lady,” he said with a toothpick in his mouth.

“Yeah, no shit.” I giggled and then finally blacked out in the backseat.

“I looked up at the giant newscaster helicopter and smiled. Bingo.”

“I wanted my fucking face all over the news so the world could see me. …… Darren was so going to kick my ass after this.”

“Find her,” I ordered and hung up, tossing the phone back to Mike and dismissing him. I grabbed my personal phone and immediately deactivated the shocking mechanism to Jaden’s collar. I didn’t need it accidentally shocking her while she was on a motorcycle with over 200 horsepower and no goddamn helmet.

I pinched the bridge of my nose. “Is she, at least, wearing a helmet?” I asked beyond annoyed and pissed off.
