Status Updates From Back in the Saddle

Mallory shut her eyes, thinking how rah-rah everyone else had been since the accident, pushing her forward, never letting her give up, never giving her even a moment to doubt herself. Sometimes they'd meant well–like Mama–other times it was because helplessness makes other people uncomfortable.

To hell with this, she thought, reaching for his hand. Never mind they barely knew each other, or that they were in public, or...or a million other reasons why she shouldn't. The man needed to be touched, dammit. And she was handy.

Zach.. His hands in his pockets as usual, all steady and sturdy and studly, in his own quiet, bespectacled way.

Zach is 7 yrs older than Josh. .. Funny how adulthood leveled things out. .. At one time Zach and his other brother, Colin, only a year younger than him, had been best buds, but since he hadn't even heard from him in years...

"I'll go back first..so we don't start a gossip riot." .. Yep, she was in love all righty. In a way she'd never been before. N no small part because she'd never known a man like this before. Well, poop.

Of course, leave it to her to find the most honorable man on the entire planet in a town so small half the houses didn't even have real addresses. She gave him a little smile. "But at least I got a couple fabulous kisses out of the deal." He chuckled. "Same here." ... Once back in the chair, Mallory looked up into that strong, gentle face,
