If you read vampire books, being comfortable with a degree of gore is just a given. But I have to say, there are times when the amount of pain Jack goes through is so overwhelming it almost loses meaning.

I hate going along, thinking "Wow, this author did RESEARCH, I can feel the history and immersion!" Only to realize that the Irish coffee jack orders at the Nightcrawler wouldn't even be invented until almost 20 years later than the setting. 😮‍💨 Nevertheless, go try Irish coffee. I promise you'll thank me later.
