does this book take place when Napoleon Hill was alive? Are there a lot of self-help books in town? What is happening

I am getting a little bored. Where it was interesting to see all the perspectives last time, there was an immediate deadline that kept me going with the slowness of the plot. This time there doesn't feel like there is an immediate threat or danger so it feels as though the plot is dragging.
