I love the story. Even though it has some soap-opera-ish touches, I love how the characters are thoroughly developed, and we see insights into everyone’s mind. The author’s way of telling the story has some satiric touches, which make me laugh out loud in completely inappropriate situations.

I am not sure why this is not more popular. It is a very interesting book. It’s a in-depth presentation of Korea under Japanese rule. Found it after reading Pachinko and wanted to know more about the topic.
