Status Updates From Dark Corners: A Novel

To my mind, RR’s final novel is…absolutely terrific. I’m reminded of the movie Pacific Heights, and the Alfred Hitchcock movie Blackmail, plus the novel Nightmare by Lynn Brock. I’m even reminded of RR’s own novel called Portobello, but I thought that book was merely enjoyable, and I hope this one is better. It seems to be.

I wanted to read this closer to when it came out in paperback, but only just lately acquired it. Rendell's last novel. I'm getting sad over her passing, even though it was a long time ago at this point, and I sort of went through all that already. Anyway, I enjoyed one of her other later works, and I expect this will work for me too. A 'diet pills' premise may be more relevant than ever...
