Status Updates From Empress: Book One

Notes:
(1) Well, that was a disappointing ending. It all made logical sense, but it was all just way too convenient.
(2) My prediction didn't come to fruition. It may still be true, but that depends on whether the planned next volume comes out.
- Can you believe this teased a big reveal and still hasn't delivered?
- Granted, never say never, but that was 2016 and it's 2024!

Notes:
(1) Well, it took until issue #6, but the plot's finally got moving!
- We get an excellent twist in the penultimate issue that's been frequently seeded throughout yet totally blindsides you.
(2) SPOILER: I've been predicting since issue #3, that Aine's in love with Dane.
- A bit too obvious, but it makes perfect sense out of her odd behavior, actions and motivations.

Notes:
(1) This is one of those Mark Millar books where he leaves it to the artist to do the heavy lifting.
- Not that there isn't a story, bit it's awful low-detail and overshadowed by the amount of action each issue.
(2) Nearly halfway in and I still don't have much sense of any of the characters.
- The daughter, Aine, is so far the most interesting/least one-dimensional.

Notes:
(1) It'll be interesting to see how this compares and contrasts with "Sharkey The Bounty Hunter" and "Space Bandits."
- In other words, his pre-Netflix versus post-Netflix space books.
- I really enjoyed "Starlight," so I have high hopes.
(2) Yet another Millar "Book One" that never saw a "Book Two."
- Along with "Reborn," "Huck," and likely others I've not read yet.
