Can’t decide if Harry’s aunt is trying to reverse psychology (reverse reverse psychology even?) these two into matrimony or genuinely has no idea where this is going.

Either way is funny.

I'm kind of upset I spent money on this book

This is off to a very slow start. So many reviews highlighted the humor in the story and yet I've yet to laugh at anyone's hi-jinx.

“Miss Hathaway." He rested his hands on his hips. "What, by the devil's own arse, are you up to now?"

She groaned. Her hiccups had given her away. Once he began removing his clothes there was nothing she could do to stop them escaping her mouth with greater alacrity.

"Would you be so good as to come out from under my bed, Miss Hathaway?"

"How did you know it was me?" she managed meekly.

“He huffed loudly, but did not turn to watch her leave— too busy watching Georgiana's ankles. "I have taken no fancy, madam."

"Just as well, for your sake." He heard her open the door. "Miss Hathaway is highly unlikely to fall in love with an unsociable, unfashionable curmudgeon like you, Henry. I told you, she's not a foolish girl at all. You need somebody far stupider.”

"Your aunt intends to make me into a lady," she added, a slightly mischievous spark under her lashes. "I am not to slide down banisters anymore."

What would she be doing outside his house, on an afternoon of premature darkness and violent storm? But then she did rather seem to make a habit of appearing where and when she was not expected.

With horror he concluded that his aunt had arrived. And not alone.

“Mark my words, the three of you will come to no good. You are this academy's biggest failures. By far the most unlikely to make good matches. You'll be three debauched old ladies huddled together, probably living a life of crime, not a decent husband between you."

What exactly would be wrong with that? Georgiana mused. As Melinda often said, who wanted a "decent" husband in any case?”
