This novel arrives after a string of heavier reads (all of Ishiguro, Williams’s quiet masterpieces, Labatut's unsettling science), and so far it pales—its ideas and prose don’t yet cut as deep. But the road trip has its pull: the confined car, the long drive, the coming-of-age feel of the conversations. Most compelling is the consistent undercurrent of uneasiness—mostly quiet, occasionally honed but veiled. Onward.

okay i don’t know what genre this book is bc im going in completely blind, but this shit has me tweaking and i had a nightmare when i took a nap after reading this morning 💀 like i really hope this isn’t a horror book bro it keeps giving me chills and freaking me out
