Status Updates From Die Eifersüchtige

This book has me extending my drive to the office so I can listen some more. Some of Fremlin's observation about the gentle, everyday intimacy of married couples is so true that I felt as if she peeped into people's houses to write that. It's so striking how she can articulate the somewhat paradoxical balance of love and respect and expectations between spouses.

Ok loving this so far

I have eleven books as my August TBR. But I also like flexibility, and changing things up. I will flip a coin for each book, with an alternate book in mind, and the coin will see if there’s a switch. This first time, I made it easy on Celia Fremlin to win, because my alternate book that could’ve won was Spider Orchid, also by her. The coin said stick with The Jealous One.

So. In August, I will be reading in tune with what I'll call, uh, The Ludlum Effect. Explanation: The majority of the novels I get to must have a three-word title, starting with the word 'The'. Sadly, I have a Ludlum book, but he somehow has not made the cut. Disrespectful, I know. I may get to The Bancroft Strategy anyway, if there's time. Also snubbed: The Last Man, The Big Heat, The Good Earth, others. One day...
