I feel like i made a lot of good progress today, however I fear that I cannot tell you much about any of it. There was a lot I had to go back and forth with given people/places/structures referenced by name rather than in concept. He used more stories to explain his points this time around, but if I'm being honest, it hurt more than it helped this time around.

Getting to the meat of policy decisions. There was a line about penalties failing to attend gymnasia that put a lot of this back into perspective. I know there were other things earlier that were 'of the times', but it's not like sexism/racism/literally any form of othering isn't around today.

crap okay we got to the good bits. but like, still going to have to read everyone else to see if it's still necessary. The guy is going on about equality which is funny, considering how he's spent nearly 200 pages now we need inequal statuses for society to 'work'.

I know this was big at the time, but lines like 'it is not possible to be a good ruler without first having been ruled...virtue of a citizen - understanding the governing of free men from both points of view', Have perspective? I cannot wait to get to plato and socrates, because I have a feeling they may say something similar and/or better. That way I can prove there was no need to keep this man's bigoted pov around
