Is this the first recorded FanFiction…if so Dante wrote lemons about him and Virgil you just know he did. Don’t deny it.

In Paradise, and about to climb the golden ladder. I must say that reading Planet Narnia and the Narnia books helped me have a better grasp of medieval cosmology. Plus the Elizabethan World Picture has helped me see how fluid it was. The special effects, music, and voices are done so well and it brings to life a story that must be so visual. I’m looking forward to reading the real deal.

Purgatory - Purgatory is a place of mystery for me (non-Catholic) but the point here is to focus on the story and not nitpick theology. What will be interesting is my opinion of this dramatization after I have read the book. The voices are top-notch and the mustic set the perfect mood.

Made it to the first terrace of Purgatory. Continues to be a fascinating listen and I loved that Cato the Younger made an appearance as we are reading about his life at school this year. So the first purgatory is pride, so I have to wonder -- are there seven terraces for the seven deadly sins? Dante is so mathematical which I love!

Whew! Hell is hell. I had to take a break because it was so dark and disturbing. A couple of surprises -- an important hero from The Iliad and Odyssey are in hell for leading people astray. The lowest parts of Hell are frozen which fits my vision of hell. Being cold is the worst thing so it works for me.

When dipping into the waters of Shakespeare, I read Nesbit’s Beautiful Stories from Shakespeare and the Lamb’s Tales from Shakespeare. I’m hoping the BBC series will do the same. The production value is excellent and what’s not to like about British accents in epic tales. Since I know very little about the Divine Comedy, I can relaze and enjoy what is presented.
