Apparently the words 'Fulgura frango' - 'I break up the lightening' used to be inscribed on Italian bells as the standard way to get tidbit thunder was to ring the church bells. This was later stopped in the epic storms of 1783 when six Czech bell ringers were electrocuted in a storm.
