Status Updates From A Flood of Evil

There is a flood of evil coming, he thought, and each of us who perceives its approach has an obligation to do what he can to prevent it.

They’ve transformed Adolf Hitler from an insignificant little corporal who failed at everything he ever tried into the most compelling politician in Europe.

It wasn’t what Hitler knew or did; in most cases he was ignorant of history and economics, and a failure in everything he had tried. But in selling himself, with Goebbels’ assistance, he was a genius.

Forgive me, but many German Jews think these Eastern Jews are unclean and slovenly. There have been attempts to expel them, but they keep coming and they have a very high birth rate.

“After the Putsch, we all thought Hitler was done,” Berthold said. “Now he’s back, stronger than before.”

“We all thought Hitler was done. He was on trial for treason and would surely be executed or at least go to prison for many years.”

Dietrich said Hitler always wanted the hall to be too small and thus filled to over-capacity.

“He says Germany can never be great again until all the Jews are gone.”

I really like and admire Anna. A young woman in the late 1920’s to early 1930’s is a college graduate and started earning her chops as a journalist at just 16. There were so few educated women then.

She is ~ 5-8 years younger than my grandmother, who married and had a family. Grandma graduated high school, a good education for any young woman of the time. Grandpa was 9 years older and finished 8th grade.

I’m having trouble putting this book down!

Quite a gripping story! I won’t reveal any spoilers, but one of the main characters is caught in a very unusual situation not of his own making.
