So far 1- I’m not loving the use of animal suffering as a cheap way to elicit emotion. Build out your characters first, there’s room even in short stories. 2- I really wish authors would stop having certain characters use slurs. It just makes me think they are dying to use them under the guise of artistic expression. 3- can’t think of an ending? No problem! None here. Sometimes this works but not every time.

So cool to read the short story in here called ‘S.S.’, immediately after finishing the novel Hail to the Chief, purely by chance. Not only were they both about gang violence, not only did they both mention the Confederate flag…but to top it all off, they both described something as resembling a Pollock painting! Anyway, I probably need a break from gangland for a while - but yeah, that was neat (non-gang slang).
