Juz 1/30; Al-Baqarah: The Cow
Reiterates stories from the Bible calls out Jews for repeatedly disobeying God and ignoring messages from Islamic prophets for false idols.
The Cow was tough to understand; internet tells me Moses called a search for a cow to solve a murder, but I don’t see it in the actual text. My book’s annotation claims it an allegory for Jesus’s death and resur., but doesn’t seem right.

I started 2025 by reading The Holy Bible from cover to cover, and as I considered what book to read to kick off 2026, I decided not to fall back into my usual habit of picking up a novel. Instead, I chose to read another religious text, and settled on The Qur’an. I’m keenly aware that this choice may provoke a reaction from some people, but I’m approaching it with an open mind.

Lucked out with my version. Intro gives history and cultural lesson good for westerners.
Quran was revealed over 23 years, in two locales: Mecca (mostly faith), Madina (law)
Can be segmented and broken down for study (from largest to smallest):
7 Manzil
30 juz
114 surah /chapters
ayah “marks” aka verses
As not to rush, readers may read no more than 1 Manzil or 1 juz a day.
Hell not eternal, Paradise is.
