Everytime I actually get attached to characters and get into a story it ends

None of these short stories feel complete the third was def my fave so far but they’re all odd and feel vaugely unfinished like a dream. It’s uncomfortable but I also don’t enjoy the stories enough to really wonder what happened after because they’re so short

Second story was significantly better but I hated the ending it felt random and unfinished

Didn’t like the first story at all and hated the SA themes

I'm a little peeved this story collection starts with an excerpt from Swamplandia and includes the character that ruined that whole novel for me. I don't understand why this book was published after Swamplandia yet one of the short stories is pulled from that full novel

I want to be on whatever Karen Russell was on when she wrote that first short story
