Status Updates From My Last Lament

I don’t know if I ever would’ve read this book on my own but I’m so glad I was encouraged to and did. By the last few pages I was crying. Mourning with the narrator and realizing that all stories must end (or at least move on without us). It’s a hard read, not intellectually but emotionally, although I think it provides plenty of food for thought. In the end, at its core, it’s just so human. 8.5/10

Sad moments but this seems like things are looking up. Do I dare hope?

Just let them be happy!!! It’s so easy to forget that life didn’t just go back to normal after WWII. Peace doesn’t mean restoration. So much is lost, so much changes and yet life goes on. I want Aliki don’t get her happy ending but that’s not (normally) how the world works. Right now I’m hopeful but also not.
