In my opinion Emil Cioran's collected works are the Old Testament and Thomas Ligotti's 'The Conspiracy against the Human Race' is the New Testament to the Bible of Postmodernity. As liberating as devastating. Enough to break and build a nihilist at once. Of invaluable knowledge and worth, unfortunately both thinkers are largely overlooked or misinterpreted just like Max Stirner and his 'The Ego and its Own'.

"Well, I don't use ten dollar words as much as you, but for a guy who sees no point in existence, you sure fret about it an awful lot; and you still sound panicked."
This True Detective quote pretty much sums up this book perfectly. If this book was written recently I would have accused the author of using ai to generate the wordiest run on sentences known to man. Switching to audiobook so I don't DNF.
