Surprisingly well written prose and characters.
This is one of the author's pen names (she published campy historical crime novels before) and she has since changed her pen name again for this book and other Gothic Romances, to Constance Kane.
I think I may actually read this whole series because it has the tormented/morally bad characters I love without the crippling anxiety I often get from gothic novels.
