Status Updates From The Vine That Ate the South

Stuff is finally happening, I think. I personally like the parts where we dive into the main character’s past more, especially those regarding his father. That’s much more interesting than what’s happening in these woods most of the time

I’m bored

It’s a fun read. I don’t think it’s what I was promised… but it’s fun. Nothing much is happening. But the characterizations are fun.

So far it’s really fun. The world-building done in 25 pages is lovely. It’s not introducing too many characters at once and we have plant talk. What more can a boy ask for?

Wanderlust evoking words. An insight in to Southern American (of N America) culture, if a slightly caricatured version!

Unusual style. I like the language used. I would probably enjoy more if I had a better understanding of Southern gothic / folklore prior to reading. Still, a nice read between uni work!
