Not great, but not totally sucky either. Intriguing.

this would be so much better if the writing style wasn't so modern:

"She shot him a death-glance. “Is this legitimate third date conversation?"

Curious...

"Tonight, I work for the Godmother."

.Cinderella had seen a variety of claw marks and paw prints in her missions through neighboring forests, but these marks were larger than any she'd ever seen. Her blood pressure began to rise.

Cinderella looked back to the front door. “You'll keep him safe?"

Her mentor's mouth curled into a smile. “Are you asking because you care about him?"

Cinderella rubbed at the goose pimples that formed on her arm. “Of course not. He just saved someone's life. I think that earns him a free pass for the next 24 hours or so."

As Cinderella snuck between buildings onto the street where the captain lived, she couldn't help but feel that someone was watching her. A glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye here, a far-off, faint noise barely within earshot there. There were few things she knew better than the sounds of the night.

Someone wants to play a game. Oh, we'll play a game.

While Cinderella kept the laugh to herself, she couldn't help but wonder if her rooftop encounter with Braedon had left him with any visual bruises . What excuses might he use to explain away the marks of her fists ? Hunting accident ? An errant slide down the golden staircase of the castle?

She smiled to herself. “ I'll clean your house now, Armenia. But the second you go to sleep, I'm not yours anymore."

Cinderella crumpled the parchment and made to start a small, evidence -destroying fire.

"Tonight, I work for the Godmother."
