The scene to scene writing is OK, though very verbose and descriptive. But the characters are not very interesting and the story is plain boring and stunted; it takes pages and pages for simple scenes to play out, which drags the pace to a crawl without adding anything.
Remember to edit your work and "kill your darlings", because this book suffers from the lack of it.
