Ministry spouses are quite often involved in ministry, but it is their own choice to use the gifts God has given them. In some churches, getting "two for the price of one" is often wrongly assumed. You need to be the one to speak up about this and make it clear that you are the one called to ministry and ministry training in seminary, not you + your spouse.

Remember that while you are in seminary, and especially after seminary, *you* are the one called to professional ministry—not [your spouse].

The religious leaders in Jesus' day were devout students of the Torah, yet they did not recognize the messiah in their midst. Do not confuse busyness in seminary with a healthy spirituality. The holy disciplines of prayer and meditation cannot be replaced by studying for a test or writing a book review. Be intentional, and don't give up your devotion and prayer life just because you are busy.

In short, while we strongly encourage you to integrate your studies into the fabric of your spiritual and devotional life, you should not assume that your studies and homework are automatically spiritual exercises.
