The letter written by Wolfie in Vienna, May 19, 1781 seems, to me, a defining moment in his life and career. He has broken free of the shackles of both the Archbishop of Salzburg and his Father, and is poised to build his legend in Vienna.

Leopold Mozart (To Wolfgang): "... Your whole intent is to ruin me so you can build your castle in the air... I hope that, after your mother had to die in Paris already, you will not also burden your conscience by expediting the death of your father."

Wow, emotional manipulation/mind games are commonplace between Wolfie and his father but that's a low blow, even for Leopold!
