"By 'desire' I simply mean the force that animates human and social bodies. Desire is striving, will to action, toward self-assertion of the individual and crafting new ways of being ... Desire does not act alone."

"'Guerrillas of desire,' as a 'newly invented metaphor' does not describe slaves, peasants, and workers engaging in everyday resistance per se but rather encapsulates their complexity while producing ideal and striking images in the mind of the reader, it is hoped. The guerrillas of desire seek to elope with the reader's imagination, fleeing the dead and worn-out metaphors of contemporary radical politics."

"Hence members of the white working class, in this [Weather Underground] formulation, must address their perceived racism before addressing their own interests, before organizing or working alongside movements of color. WUO vanguardism, inherent in this notion of white privilege, becomes a prohibition against acting and engaging in the messiness of organizing among and between...the working class."

"The Weather [Underground] view of white privilege has overshadowed that of the STO [Sojourner Truth Organization]. The former shifts easily from seeing the white working class as invested in white supremacy to seeing the class being essentially and unchangeably complicit in the racial order, while the latter requires and engagement with the class and as such has built-in prohibitions against judgment and damnation."

"Illustrating that everyday resistance is a factor in revolution and a form of politics, maintaining that its effects on overt rebellion and crises are measureable, requires the reversal of this assumption. Working class and poor people ... are already organized and resisting."

"'Guerrillas of Desire' offers a contentious hypothesis: the fundamental assumptions underlying Left and radical organizing, including many strains of anarchism, is wrong. I do not mean organizationally dishonest, ideologically inappropriate, or immoral. I mean empirically incorrect. ... Strategies ... are predicated on the assumption that working class and poor people are unorganized and not resisting."
