Status Updates From In the Woods of Memory

i’ve put off reading this book for over ten years because of how directly it confronts US military rape and sexual violence in okinawa so i kind of can’t believe im finally reading it. it’s giving my own personal final boss vibes

Reading this while drinking a shikuwawa cocktail was necessary.

Oh look, it's Ninomiya's female counterpart.

"You remember those endlessly repeated images on TV, don't you? You know, the planes plunging into the towers, one after another, and the moment of each building's collapse."

Wait, there's no footage of the first plane hitting the towers. How can he have seen "the planes plunging into the towers, one after another"...?
