Vasco De Mello is 35% done

Writing is still good. But story isn't going anywhere for me. The protagonist has no goal other than staying alive and for a story that centers on staying alive, it doesn't have enough tension and the pacing is all over the place for me. Going to give maybe one or two chapters and if it still doesn't capture me, i may have to DNF it

ARC read from NetGallery. So far I'm not really involved with any of the characters. The writing is good but the storytelling feels a little pushed. This surprises me because so many people have given it good reviews... Going to carry on to find out why and if it gets better
