very repetitive i think i’ve read the same variation of scenes like four times in the row but i am holding out for my beloved side characters

rose is interesting… i like mary so much more and realize she has a book i should’ve just read instead

funny slang tho

i would rather have a book of rose and emily going on adventures but this whole concept is so fun i’m curious if i guessed this twist right

Re-reading this book was a lot of fun! If I can admit to favorites, Francine and Mary often steal the show for me. It was nice to revisit Rose and Warren and watch her grow comfortable with parts of herself she's always been told to hide. ❤️

"He didn't believe in love when he met you. That doesn't mean he doesn't believe in it now."
I opened my mouth, then shut it. Could it be true?
"What am I supposed to do, browbeat a confession out of him?"

"Keep your voice down," I whispered. "Do you want the whole world to hear?"
"Maybe," he said slowly, "if it will keep you from murdering me with your eyes."

"I don't believe proposals involve undressing."
"No?" A smile teased his lips. "Forgive me. I'm not well-versed in the art of proposing to a woman."

"I'm not in this for a fleeting moment. I want you to choose me. No one else."

"Men beg me to accept their hands."
Something hot and urgent crossed his face. For a moment, I mistook it for anger. When he stalked toward me, it wasn't the gait of an outraged man. It was the prowl of a predator as it cornered its prey.
He stopped inches away from me. "I'm begging you now. Kiss me."

"If you think denying me the kiss will punish me," he said over his shoulder, "it won't. I have every contour of your lips engraved in my memory. I can relive it any time I want just by closing my eyes."

I'd nursed a broken heart many a time before. Once for the man my sister Violet had proceeded to marry.

Mary snorted. "Her sister tells me she's a masterful horsewoma—"
I stomped on Mary's foot. She grunted.
"Forgive me," she said, her voice strained. "I meant to say she weighs as much as a horse."

"Rose, hurry up."
"Wait your turn," I told her, my voice serene. "A lady is poised. A lady is serene."
Mary elbowed her way past. "A lady waits for no one."

The #RoseReadAlong is over, yet I'm still reading this book. So I'll be sharing my favourite lines here instead of on Twitter! Happy reading everyone. :)

One of the things I love best is Rose's complex relationship with her sister. She is annoyed by her younger sister at times (who is also annoyed at her, it comes with sisterhood) but it's clear they love each other. By the end of the book, they're better at communicating that love. ♥️

My favorite scene is when Rose climbs out the window and finds herself caught by Warren. I love the banter, both between her and Francine and between her and Warren. Plus, Rose hasn't yet realized that what she thinks she wants is not what she wants. She's about to find out. 😬
