This specific story that I'm in the middle of, Petal's Abide by Benjanun Sriduangkaew, gives me major This Is How You Lose the Time War vibes in ways I can't even begin to pinpoint, but I'm loving all the feels I'm feeling.

Loved, loved the first two stories and am halfway through the third one. Missed reading grittier, ambitious speculative fiction, and this collection has so far delivered so much and beyond. So far, in no particular way, this book has discussed: time travel, birds, the significance of name, bodies, animal intelligence, disability and ableism, all with the tenderness and warmth the best stories can conjure up.
