Status Updates From White Oleander

not sure why i randomly picked this and another book off a shelf this summer, both about daughters without/grieving their mothers. this isn’t a happy book so far, as the girl is in the foster care system. but it’s well-written so i’ll keep going-

Dysfunctional for sure, but once you get past chapter 1… I couldn’t stop very lyrical and poetic! I just want Astrid to know her circumstances are not her fault.
