Dani finds blood in the bakery belonging to James Haggard. Does she go to the police? No! She's going to use it for a DNA test to prove he's not her niece's biological father and prevent him getting custody.

Guess what, Dani? Calling the police with this proof and GETTING HIM ARRESTED would be just as effective!

Why didn't Dani contact the police the moment James Haggard showed up and essentially threatened her? Why does she not mention him at all to police when her bakery is trashed?
